At our school, we believe children should feel happy, safe and listened to every day.

You will see below a brief snapshot from a child’s perspective of ‘How does school keep me safe?’

We asked pupils to share their thoughts about what helps them feel safe in school, who they can talk to if they are worried, and what adults do to look after them. This page shares their ideas, voices and experiences from Spring 2026, so everyone can understand safeguarding through the eyes of a child.

Pupil Voice: Keeping Us Safe!

Spring 1 2026 Update

We asked children what they thought about safety at school, and over 200 of our children replied! Here is what we found and what we are doing next:

Our children said…

  • “I feel super safe!” Almost everyone said they feel “Always Safe” at school and on school trips.
  • “I know who to talk to.” Our children told us that teachers are kind, they listen, and they make you feel protected.
  • “I know why I’m here.” Our children have big dreams! Our children told us they come to school to get “good jobs,” be “good parents,” and “not miss out.”
  • “I’m mostly sure about bullying.” Most of our children told us that they know what it is, but a few children said they weren’t 100% sure.

We Did (or Will Do!)

  • The Playground Check: One or two of you mentioned the playground can feel a bit busy. We are going to have a look at our “Playground Zones” to make sure everyone has a space they feel happy in.
  • The S.T.O.P. Reminder: In our next assembly, we’ll talk about S.T.O.P. (Several Times On Purpose) so everyone is aware of what bullying is and how to stop it.
  • Fire Drill Experts: We noticed one or two people were a bit nervous about fire drills. We’ll make sure your teachers walk through the plan again so you feel like a pro next time the alarm goes off!
  • Keeping the Board Bright: We will make sure the “Safeguarding Board” with our DSL photos is easy to see so you always know exactly who is in charge of keeping you safe.

“We want to thank our children for helping us make our school the best place to learn and grow!”
